Cashflow Quadrant and Cashflow Game
College degrees are very essential and sometimes the only way to get great jobs and to be on top in the real world. But even college degrees nowadays are not doing too much, especially during this recession. But I will tell you a story about why I don't plan to continue my college education :
In December 2007, I went to a social party and I just came to meet some friends. One of the friends invited to me to play a game of Cashflow. To make it short, Cashflow is a game where the object is that you have to get out of the rat race and onto the fast track of financial freedom. Basically you start out working a 9 to 5 job and buy real estate and investments to get out of the rat race, although there are some obstacles that makes getting out of the rat race even tougher. The game takes as long as a game of Monopoly, maybe even longer! But to me, not only was this game challenging and fun, but it turned out to be a very good and rewarding experience. After the game was over, A few people recommended me to get the book Cashflow Quadrant.
When I bought and start reading the Cashflow Quadrant book a month later, I was feeling that this book was changing my way of thinking when it comes to making money. This book shows about how graduating from college and getting a higher paying job is not the best path to take, especially in today's world. Robert Kiyosaki says that owning and investing businesses are the way to go. He also explains about four letters and in four different quadrants. The letters are E, S, B, and I. Here is what they stand for:
E-Employee-- Being an employee makes up most of the workforce as these type of people who work 9-5 at their jobs. They work for their boss, and more and more people say they are not happy with their jobs because of stress, their job function, and certain bosses and co-workers.
S-Self-employed--Being your own person and do things on your own, as you get paid for your own efforts. The downside is that it requires for you to work lots and lots of hours, and it can wear you down in an extreme way physically and mentally. (Ex:doctors, lawyers)
B-Business owner-- You own your own business and you have people work for you. A business owner can take a vacation and come back getting paid more than he or she did before.
I-Investor--investing money in stocks, bonds, and currency trades. Basically, you are trying to make money with your own money.
Robert Kiyosaki says owning businesses and investing are the best paths to take because the sky is the limit when it comes to making money and best of all, it doesn't take working 50 to 60 hours a week to do so. In today's world due to technology, owning businesses are more easier than before, and pretty much anyone is capable of owning their own business.
With all that being said, I would like to thank Robert Kiyosaki for his creation of the Cashflow board game and his book Cashflow Quadrant. I only played Cashflow one time, and that changed my thinking of achieving higher education at a college isn't the best way to go to make a great living. Cashflow Quadrant gave me the urge to take action and create a new and better path to live, and live happy! And I hope you find a way to live and live happy too!
